Advertisements exist through images. Images or shots are not just captured, they are manufactured. Let’s say you’re checking out a print advertisement and you come across an American Express credit card advertisement, featuring a photogenic Caucasian family, then there’s also this old grandma sitting by herself on her couch with her cat, and this happy go lucky black man throwing a football with his son. Message: Anyone no matter what background can have ‘this’ credit card, maybe not the cat, but basically any person and just look how happy life is for them.
Everything placed in an advertisement is put in the there for a reason.
How reasonable this reason is…is something we’ll discover here.
1 pt. Awarded : Advertisement is catchy, interesting, exciting, racy (but not in a inappropriate cheesy kind of way).
1 pt. Awarded: Advertisement is clear and direct. In an instant-fast paced world, we tend to have a ‘want it and want it now’ attitude.
1 pt. Awarded: Composition of advertisement makes good use of space.
1 pt. Awarded: Identifies target audience right off the bat – because who wants to spend time (even two seconds) if the ad (product or service) is not meant for you to (have) read in the first place? Ex. I’m reading through a magazine and I come across an advertisement for a new shampoo, I get all excited, then realize only after two seconds that its for men. So, you know, they don’t bald.
1 pt. Awarded: Advertisement is ascetically nice looking (not cheap or lame looking).
1 pt. Awarded: Advertisement is promoting a product or service that is even worth having in the market. If not, they’re not worth the visual harassment and they could just remove themselves from the pages, screens, and billboards, etc.
1 pt. Awarded: Objects utilized in the advertisement are relevant to the product and or service.
1pt. Awarded: Subjects utilized in the advertisement are relevant to the produce and or service.
1 pt. Awarded: Graphics or design are well-done.
1 pt. Awarded: Font is used beneficially (size, color, clarity, and position).
